American Girl Shine On Now

American Girl has a campaign called Shine On Now going on now until 31 July 2010. Through the Shine On Now initiative, American Girl is calling on girls across the country to help the company give $1 million in clothes, books, dolls, and money to the following four organizations:

•Kids in Distressed Situations
•Save the Children
•National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions
•National Wildlife Federation

Now through 31 July, help your daughter visit Shine On Now and “donate” up to 100 free stars a day. If a total of one million stars are collected, American Girl will donate $1 million of books, clothes, dolls and money to the four charities.

Plus, for every star you donate, you receive a chance to
win an American Girl doll. One winner will be chosen each day.

Orajel works wonders

My 18 month old is getting 2 more teeth and has been very cranky lately and sometimes the pain wakes her up at night. The last few nights, I gave her some Orajel before I put her to bed and she has slept through the last few nights. Orajel is awesome.

Geocaching

My family loves to go geocaching.

If you don't know what geocaching is, the following questions and answers was taken from www.geocaching.com.

"What is Geocaching?
Geocaching is an entertaining adventure game for gps users. Participating in a cache hunt is a good way to take advantage of the wonderful features and capability of a gps unit. The basic idea is to have individuals and organizations set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the internet. GPS users can then use the location coordinates to find the caches. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. All the visitor is asked to do is if they get something they should try to leave something for the cache.

What is usually in a cache?
A cache can come in many forms but the first item should always be the logbook. In its simplest form a cache can be just a logbook and nothing else. The logbook contains information from the founder of the cache and notes from the cache's visitors. The logbook can contain much valuable, rewarding, and entertaining information. A logbook might contain information about nearby attractions, coordinates to other unpublished caches, and even jokes written by visitors. If you get some information from a logbook you should give some back. At the very least you can leave the date and time you visited the cache.
Larger caches may consist of a waterproof plastic bucket placed tastefully within the local terrain. The bucket will contain the logbook and any number of more or less valuable items. These items turn the cache into a true treasure hunt. You never know what the founder or other visitors of the cache may have left there for you to enjoy. Remember, if you take something, its only fair for you to leave something in return. Items in a bucket cache could be: Maps, books, software, hardware, CD's, videos, pictures, money, jewelry, tickets, antiques, tools, games, etc. It is recommended that items in a bucket cache be individually packaged in a clear zipped plastic bag to protect them. "

I think it's fun because when you're looking for a cache, it seems like you always end up seeing a restaurant, store, etc that you didn't know was there. Plus, depending on the type of caches you do, you get some good exercise.

Littlest Pet Shop Pets

My 6 year old daughter has been collecting Littlest Pet Shop Pets for the past 3 years. She has every pet and every set that has come out. I don't know who has more fun collecting them - her or me. The pets are adorable and they are coming out with more pets all the time. They're making clothes. They made a bedding/comforter set that is so cute. I'm waiting for them to release a bathroom set and some DVDs. I think we'll buy whatever they release cause the LPS pets are so cute.

Back to Work

After taking a week off from week, it was REALLY hard to go back. It was especially hard to go from wearing a tank top and shorts to wearing my BDUs. It was 100 degrees today - I don't want to be wearing long sleeves and pants.

Garage Sale Deals

Today, I went to some garage sales and I actually found some great deals. I got a set of 4 loungers for the side of the pool for $20. I also got a Step 2 toy box and a Step 2 sand and water table for $5 each. After getting these deals, I'm ready to go to garage sales every weekend.

My baby isn't a baby any more

My six year old daughter just finished kindergarten and today, she lost her first tooth. She's had a loose tooth for about a week and today in the car, she was wiggling it and then she showed it to her 18 month old sister, who decided to reach over and pull the tooth out herself. I guess the tooth fairy will be stopping by our house tonight.
